DESCRIPTION OF THE PROGRAM
As part of the 2020 UH AVT class one of the goals was to pull together the resources to allow the class (team) to build a human-scale autonomous vehicle based on an evKart to compete in the 2020 Purdue sponsored international competition evGrandPrix in the Autonomous Masters division. evgrandprix.org/autonomous/ In preparing for that competition the team acquired a base evKart from TopKart (topkartusa.net/ ) and begin working toward building out the autonomous capability. They successfully qualified for the 2020 evGrandPrix only for it to be canceled due to Covid. The AI Racing Tech team is further accepted for the 2021 competition event in Indianapolis next April. The AI Racing Tech team has requalified for the 2021 Purdue evGrandPrix in the Autonomous Vehicle Master division”. The ART team autonomous evKart entry is recognized as one of the likely contenders to win the autonomous prize due to their innovative racing methods.

IAC Hackathon # 3

ART team will compete in the IAC Hackathon #3 from Mid-December to Mid-January. This event will focus on Object Detection (other vehicle) and avoidance and for the first time “wheel-to-wheel” racing in the VRXperiance Simulator against another EGO vehicle!

As part of their preparing for the Purdue evGrandPrix for next year the team will demonstrate the evKart on a real track in autonomous mode. This week will also have the ART team going head-to-head with some of the best universities in the world for bragging rights in a 7 day autonomous hackathon.
